Yara, Mira, Mahdi, & Ali

A photoshoot with my Sister’s kids ended up sooner than anticipated with an unfortunate event where her son Mahdi accidentally bumped his face into a large waste box and got wounded right beneath his eye (No serious injuries). Oh yeah, and one more thing, my sweet 50mm was announced dead during the photoshoot.

Jessy

My brother’s Siamese cat, Jessy as he likes to call it, gave birth last week to three kittens. The identity of the Father, who turned out not to be Siamese in contrast to my brother’s wish, remains anonymous as of today.

Festival du Monde Arabe de Montréal

Two weeks ago, I was recruited to cover few concerts playing under the annual Festival du Monde Arabe over here in Montreal. The following set of photos are taken from two concerts entitled Je Me Souviens 2.0 & Cowboy Sufis. Needless to say, it was quite a first-time challenging experience covering such large-scale performances and analogously bargaining for good photos, I hope!

P.S: My Sigma 70-300mm proved to have terrible focus at maximum zoom => time to upgrade to a better zoom lens!

Je Me Souviens

“Je me souviens was created for the FMA’s 10th anniversary. Rhythms, melodies, and dances derived from an authentic, joyous, and resilient Quebec meet with virtuosity, simplicity, and beauty the traditions of a heroic and pure Mount Lebanon” ~ http://festivalarabe.com

Cowboy Sufis

“Also known as DEBU, meaning dust in Indonesian, is a grouping of fourteen male and female musicians, mostly American and British converts to Sufism, uniting their voice in Arabic, English, Turkish, Spanish, Persian, and Chinese” ~ http://festivalarabe.com/

Neglected Lies

Aftermath of rain tends to usually create a lot of space for shooting opportunities, especially the ones where the Camera lies to the viewer. Anyways, I went out today in promise to capture some of those opportunities, and since my 70-300mm Sigma was under employment, I shifted to manual focus to receive the best control on my depth of field under night conditions.

CSU Photography Dayout

I recently concluded teaching two Digital Photography classes at the Student Union in Concordia University. It was a beautiful experience engaging with the students, now my good friends, while they were actively translating PPT theory into creative practice. Below are some snapshots of their experiences during our photography day-outs:

Fireworks at Old Montreal

Yet another visit to old montreal, but this time to shoot the International Fireworks Competition with my friends. It was the French turn this time to display their talent. Almost all the shots were taken from the same spot, it wasn’t easy really to move around with hundreds of people watching the event.
