Hi, my name is Ali, and I have imprecisely breathed 234,280,000 times so far.
My story is quick and simple. I wake up in the morning, go to bed at night, in between, I carry a camera around with me and try to take photos that can share a story, a moment, a memory, or simply bits and pieces of my life.
ON THE SUBJECT OF ALMOST A WHISPER
It all comes from a natural and fundamental need to compose something in this life. I compose a photo and call it a reflection of my soul and claim that it is just enough to explain everything else in my whole life. I compose a writing and call it, well, just another writing.
Almost a Whisper enables me to share some of my compositions that would have otherwise been hidden away in my computer, desk drawers, or under the bed. It chronicles the progress, or lack thereof, of an amateur composer.
Why composer? Because God composes, so why shouldn’t we?
ON THE SUBJECT OF ME
I started taking photos in late 2005, but began taking it seriously in 2007. Many folks out there would blabber about how photography enables them to see the world with a different perspective, and how it is one of the few things in life where they truly enjoy the journey more than the destination, well, you can count me in.
Now despite the fact that I dislike displaying inordinate fascination with myself, I usually like to refer to myself as an optimist realist, variably emotional, but most importantly, aware of the dark side of human nature. I try not live on the surface of life, but experience it at its deepest levels.
My life is currently divided among:
- Photography
- Playing the Piano in my apartment
- Taking long directionless walks
- Not Waiting for Godot
- Preparing my Master Thesis in Computer Science at Concordia
Humbled by nature’s beauty, and confused with life’s complicated simplicity, I hope to travel to as many places in this world as I can, capturing comedy and tragedy as my lens and I see it.
My present digital Photography gear consists of:
- Canon EOS 400D (1.6x crop factor): a semi-professional digital SLR camera
- Super wide-angle zoom lens : Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM
- Prime lens: Canon EF 28mm f/1.8
- Prime lens: Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 Mark II
- Tele-zoom lens: SIGMA 70-300 mm F4-5.6 APO DG Macro
I am presently sitting for my Masters degree in Computer Science at Concordia University in downtown Montreal, Canada. If you by any chance have something you need to get off your chest, or simply JUST want to say hello, then by all means feel free to do it.
